Methodology

Students will be expected to research and present various topics to the

class. Students are expected to have read the chapter material prior to coming to class and be prepared to discuss review questions and various cases that are presented.

Course Students are expected to attend all class meetings, complete

Expectations assignments as required, be prepared to participate in class discussions

and present orally when called upon by the instructor.

Students will be assigned group work to research various topics relating to a particular business situation. Each member of a group is required to participate in the group’s findings to the class.

Each student will also be required to present a major research project at the end of the semester. All work pertaining to the research project must be typed and secured in a folder with clasps. Specific guidelines will be given at a later date.

Attendance Prompt and regular attendance at all class sessions is essential if the student is to achieve the highest degree of benefit from the course. Irregular attendance detracts from the student’s learning and prevents participation in class activities. Attendance points will be factored in a student’s final grade as indicated in "Final Grade Determination" section of syllabus.

Course Instructor initiated withdrawals will no longer be made. It is each student’s

Withdrawals responsibility to properly withdraw from a course prior to midterm to avoid

academic penalty. The last day for withdrawals without academic penalty is October 15, 1999. Students should be aware that administrative withdrawals (by the Registrar and Vice President of Academic Affairs offices) will be initiated in cases where a student fails to attend class or fails to attend class within a certain time period.

Students should be mindful that withdrawals completed after mid-term, other than hardship cases (which must be approved by the Vice President of Academic Affairs Office), result in the automatic assignment of a "WF" which equates to an "F" in determining the semester’s grade as well as the overall grade point

average.

Tardiness It is to the student's advantage to benefit from full class sessions. Student's arriving after the class has started will forfeit the right to take an exam already in progress and should not expect the instructor to repeat or review previously covered materials. No exceptions granted. Excessive tardiness will not be tolerated and will result in a 5 point reduction in grade for each tardy.

Assignments It is essential that all reading and homework assignments are completed on a timely basis in order to ensure learning and hence to be successful in the course. To encourage students to complete assignments on a timely basis, assignments will only be accepted at the beginning of class on the due date. Arriving to class late is not an excuse. All assignments in homework folders must be typed. No handwritten assignments will be accepted. Acceptable assignments must be neatly organized and secured in a folder (with clasps) with a cover sheet.

Students can always turn in an assignment before the due date.

Make-up

Exams All exams should be taken when scheduled. No make-up work will be given for missed examinations except (at the instructor’s judgement) in the case of a necessary and unavoidable documented verifiable absence, i.e. illness, death, college function. Students must notify the instructor of the absence either prior to the absence or no later than the next class period following the absence. Delayed excuses will not be accepted. Please note: Only one make-up exam will be administered with a valid, verifiable document for events absolutely beyond a student’s control. Failure to begin class at the start of a semester is not an excusable absence.

Academic

Honesty Students will receive no credit towards the course grade for course work that the instructor found was obtained from others and a lower grade in course may be given or a grade of "F" for the course. Any student who gives or receives assistance during exams will receive a zero and will be subjected to harsher penalties.

Grade The student appeal procedure adhered to in this course is stated in the

Appeals Atlanta Metropolitan College Student Handbook.

Assessment problems and exercises, a comprehensive project and a comprehensive
